Separate JSON file presets can be used to search for different naming conventions and assignment slots. The only bit that was different was the UI code. Luckily, both Maya and Marmoset Toolbag support Python, so I could easily port it between the two softwares.
To help with that, I wrote a Texture Setter tool in Python. It’s not the most time-consuming task, but it happens frequently, especially on our live games. The Texture Setter finds all textures in a folder with a certain suffix and assigns them to the correct material slot.Īt Space Ape, we have a lot of characters to manage and in almost every case we need to set up the textures and materials for marketing renders and also for them to appear correctly in our games.
